The best time to visit Houston Zoo is a little bit after 16.00, which will give you a full 2 hours time space, which is more than enough, to pleasantly wonder around the zoo. There is also a kids petting zoo, where your kids can feed giraffes for $3.
How do Rhinos show affection?
By using their bodies, rhinoceroses can communicate extensively with one another. They may flatten their ears to warn another animal off, rub sides with another rhino as a sign of affection, or bash their heads into bushes, as is the case of bulls showing aggression.
What do rhinos need in their enclosure?
The enclosure must have adequate shade, a mud wallow, outdoor enrichment items and preferably a pool. Like Sumatran rhinos, Indian rhinos are susceptible to foot and skin problems so moisture is a must. Lounging under water with just their noses sticking out is a common practice of these rhinos.
